Pixel Skåne’s Short Film Festival
The film festival for filmmakers at the start of their filmmaking career
Pixel Skåne’s Short Film Festival started in 1996 and has since grown in both reputation and size. From being a festival for young and unestablished filmmakers, Pixel is now a festival for both new talents and the more established industry.
Pixel is divided into various competition sections, and the festival is also a qualifying festival for the national Novemberfestivalen. To submit a film to Pixel, you must be living and active in Skåne or have a strong connection to the region. At Pixel, you can compete regardless of how old (or young) you are. There are also several cross-category awards for best editing, cinematography, screenplay, and more. During the festival, the Pixel Talent Award, one of Sweden’s largest short film prizes, is also awarded.
Competition Classes for Filmmakers Under 16
For the youngest filmmakers, there are the competition classes Minivikt, Flugvikt, and Lättvikt, aimed at those under 16 years old. We see this as an equally important part as the larger competition, and we work to ensure everyone gets the chance to be seen and heard.
Film contributions come from cultural schools, film camps, regular schools, and of course – individual children and youth. Pixel Minivikt, Flugvikt, and Lättvikt also have their own host, exciting guests, and their own awards ceremony.
Pixel Skåne’s Short Film Festival offers free entry for everyone.
